There’s some bad news and there’s some good news

Odds & Ends

by MYRTLE HEIDEMAN

There was a terrible automobile-truck accident in Uhland at the intersection of Old Spanish Trail and Highway 21. The passenger in the automobile was killed instantly and the driver sustained some injuries. Guess the driver of the truck was all right. Cause of the accident was not reported.

More sad news, Jean Galleher suffered a stroke last week. She was Raymond’s and my right hand, as well as several other families’. Please keep her in your prayers, we all wish her well.

Hey, how about some good news? The Harvest Festival for St. John Lutheran Church looked like a great success according to the “chow line” for the turkey and dressing meal, the crowd around the booths and the crowded parking area. Thanks to all helped, donated, cooked, planned, had booths and of course to all who stopped by and enjoyed the events. Wish I could have stayed longer to talk to all who attended. Time was limited. I needed to return to Seton-Hays where Raymond has been under treatment and recovering from hip surgery. Thanks to all for the prayers, cards, phone calls and visits.

Emil and Connie Wisian of Bakersfield, California visited with relatives this weekend, including Ellie Schawe, Jackie and Vicki Schawe, Janice and Gordon Sassman, Adelene Wisian and others. They also attended the Harvest Festival in Uhland.

Cooper Moore celebrated his birthday a little early with a “sleep out” last Saturday at Pawpaw and Nanny’s house (Daniel and Sharon Heideman). They also enjoyed a hamburger cook out. Cooper’s birthday is Oct. 24 and brother Raney’s birthday was Oct. 16. Happy birthday to both Cooper and Raney.
