Mary L. Melanson Nicholas, age 73, of Buda, Texas passed away on Monday, September 19, 2011. She was born on April 2, 1938 to O’Neil and Selina Melanson in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Mary enjoyed charity work, sewing, ceramics, gardening and especially spending time with family, grandchildren and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oren; sons, Oren Nicholas Jr., Michael Nicholas; and granddaughter, Amber Nicholas. Mary is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Nicholas, Karen Graham and husband David; son, Kevin and wife Karen Lynn; grandchildren, Michael, Paige, Andrew and Nicholas.
The family would like to thank the doctors and their staff at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center; nurses on ICU 2nd and 4th floors and Dr. Chadha, Texas Oncology. Visitation was held on Friday, September 23, 2011 at Weed- Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Mass of the Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, Buda, with Reverend Kirby Garner and Monsignor Joseph Deane officiating. Interment followed at Assumption Cemetery.
