Buda Bits
by SANDRA GRIZZLE
A big Buda thank you to all who participated in the 28th annual membership meeting, auction and lunch at Onion Creek Senior Citizens Center last Thursday. The event netted a total of $10,111, which benefitted the building fund for the new senior center. Carolyn Hesser, treasurer of the non-profit organization said, “this community wants this center and they want to see it built now.” Much of the credit for the successful auction goes out to Lt. Leroy Opiela of the Hays County Sheriff Department who served as auctioneer. Thanks to Tete and Annette Rodriguez for the great beef and chicken fajitas that they prepared for the meal. Thanks also to Oryx Properties and United Heritage Credit Union for their generous donations and to all the many people that opened their pocketbooks to help.

Watney, the son-in-law of Buda residents Madelyn and Rusty Uresti, walked away with the first place trophy and a bundle of cash with his five under 67 at the tournament in Doral, Florida.
