As this year draws to its close, it’s a good time to thank the exceptional, dedicated library staff of our Buda Library. As any of you who have visited know, our library is busy morning, noon and evening. There is always a upbeat and knowledgeable library person to find that special book, produce a story time or workshop, help you with the computer and dig up an answer to almost any question.
Melinda Hodges, the Library Director, works with the staff to make all systems go and, additionally, oversees the administrative details with a limited budget – that takes a lot of skill.
Martha Sanders is the best Children’s Librarian in the state. We brag on all the creative children’s programs and special events that are ongoing every week as well as the very successful Summer Reading Program.
Circulation Coordinator Lupe Herrera keeps on top of several positions at once as does Susie Bishop, the Administrative Assistant. They both always have time to listen to questions and find solutions for every library user. Heather Teems, in addition to Circulation duties, finds time to create very imaginative craft ideas with clever book themes.
“And here is where I most respect the high office of the librarian. Above the restrictions of budgets and the frustrations of hierarchal administrations, the librarian has the possibility of changing lives. Like great teachers, great librarians meet needful individuals at the precious moment of choice. The right book at the right time is often a nexus to individual destiny.” - Monty Joynes “In Praise of Librarians” from his writingasaprofession blog
