Spread the cheer, Christmas is here

Odds & Ends

by MYRTLE HEIDEMAN

Got your cookies baked and tree trimmed? Lots of homes in the area are brightly decorated with lots of lights. Yes, Christmas is coming and we received the best gift early when the skies of clouds brought the welcome rain. I do hope no one is saying, “When is the rain going to stop?” Hey, remember when we wanted rain?

At the December party and meeting of St. John Women’s Guild, it was decided that the first Saturday was not a day when many of the ladies could attend so we voted to hold it the 2nd Saturday. Mark your calendar for Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012 at noon, for the meeting.

On Dec. 2, Beverly Kleen had a birthday and Sharon Heideman had one on Dec. 11. Brian Heideman will mark another year older on the 24th.

On Dec. 10, Daniel and Sharon Heideman joined relatives and friends of Joe Schumann of Seguin to celebrate his 80th birthday. Joe put in many of the water lines for County Line Water SUD before he retired.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Lorain Greaf of Lockhart. Her family, church and community, also at the Hagedorn and Hohmann luncheons, will miss her.

The family of Otto and Elsie Greaf had Christmas at Roger Ranch Bowling Center on Dec. 12. A large crowd enjoyed dinner, visiting and games.
