STAFF REPORT
Two new Hays CISD school board members and one returning trustee took their formal oaths of office Thursday during a swearing-in ceremony at the district’s William M. Johnson Administration Building.
Guillermo “Willie” Tenorio, Jr., is returning to the board to begin his first full term as the District 2 trustee. He was appointed to the board in December 2009 and was unopposed in a subsequent special election to fill the unexpired term.
New trustees Sandra Kay Bryant (At-Large) and Shaun Curtiss Bosar (District 1) are both holding elected office for the first time. They replace Melissa Villarreal, who did not seek another term, and Ralph Pfluger, who is retiring from the board.
Hays County Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Beth Smith swore in Tenorio and Bryant. Hays County Pct. 5 Justice of the Peace Scott Cary swore in Bosar.
The school district canceled this year’s school board election because there were no contested races. School board meetings are held the third Monday of each month except July.
