Boy missing from Wimberley found uninjured

PERRY

STAFF REPORT

A 13-year-old Wimberley teenager was found Monday after being kidnapped by his mother’s ex-boyfriend the day before, authorities say.

A region-wide Amber Alert was issued in hopes of locating Christopher Perry, 35, who was last seen with the teen at Brookshire Brothers grocery store in Wimberley on Sunday afternoon. The next day, a deputy spotted the suspect’s red Ford Mustang along Interstate 45 near Madisonville, more than 170 miles to the northeast.

After a high-speed chase, Perry drove to the Madisonville Sheriff’s Office and surrendered with the uninjured boy, Hays County Sheriff’s Office deputy Brandy Reuter said.

Perry, who was living with the boy and his mother, has been charged with kidnapping, a third-degree felony, and unauthorized use of a vehicle, a state jail felony.

Authorities would not release the motive behind the kidnapping but said that there could be additional criminal charges against Perry and the teen’s mother.

As of Tuesday, Perry remains in custody at Hays County Jail on bonds totaling $90,000.
