Steven Michael Shepherd, born on October 13, 1970 in Austin, went home to be with Our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 5, 2011.
He attended Hays High School and went on to get his Associates Degree at the Universal Technical Institute for Diesel Mechanics. Hertz Equipment Rental employed Steve since May of 2005. He was a dedicated employee and had a strong work ethic.
He had just recently returned to school at The Academy of Health Care Professions for a degree in radiology. After surviving an earlier bout with heart disease, he again dedicated himself to his family, the remodeling of his home, and his love for motorcycles and restoring classic cars.
Steve is survived by Melissa Shepherd, his wife of nine years; son, Trevor Shepherd; and daughter, Darian Shepherd, all of Austin; by his father, Leslie Shepherd and his mother, Beverly Ann Hoffman Shepherd, by his brothers Kenneth and Jeff Shepherd, and by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by daughter, Mariah Sue Buerk; grandmother, B. Ruth Hoffman and grandfather, Joseph Hoffman, and great grandmother Tiny Naumann.
Funeral Mass was held July 9 at St. Mary’s Cathedral on 10th and Brazos in Austin. Graveside services followed at Haynie Flat Cemetery in Spicewood, Texas.
Steve was an exceptional husband, father, son, brother, friend, nephew, cousin and companion. All who knew him were touched by his love and wonderful personality. He was a special person in the lives of so many of us. Farewell, and may you be held in the Lord’s Hands until we meet again.
