Edward Wallace Fletcher, Sr., 74, of Georgetown, formerly of Kyle, joined the Lord early July 5, 2011. He was born October 5, 1936, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Theodore Wallace and Emma Gustava (Moore) Fletcher. Ed served in the Air Force from 1955 to 1958 in Alaska and was honorably discharged. He met his beloved wife Sandra Lea Joiner in San Antonio and married in 1966.
He moved to Luling and had a 100,000/NAPA Auto Parts Store and Montgomery Wards Store. He became a police officer and served many years in Luling and as sergeant of Hays County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division. He owned and operated his business as a process server with many Central Texas attorneys’ offices for the past 20 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, his wife of 43 years, Sandra Lea (Joiner) Fletcher; his son, Edward Wallace Fletcher, Jr.; and stepson Michael John Wilburn.
He is survived by his twin daughters, Tracy Paul and husband David, and Meredith Normann and Pat Vanover, all of Georgetown; stepchildren Jeannette Burris and husband Michael, Norma Skipper and husband Jack, all of San Antonio, and Woodrow “Woody” Wilburn and wife Tina of Devine; his Aunt Betty Wallis and Uncle William “Bill” of San Antonio; sister-in-law Casey Santillo of Mineral Wells; and Hazel “Cricket” Henson and husband Ed of Farmers Branch. Brother-in-law Claynell “Leon” Joiner and wife Liz of Victoria; 14 grandchildren; twin great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter and many cousins, nieces and nephews all around Texas.
Graveside service with Pastor John Selle from Faith Lutheran Church of Georgetown, TX was held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX, July 12, 2011.
In lieu of flowers, and along with our blessings and deepest appreciation, donations may be given to Odessey Hospice and to the Altenheim Lighthouse Hospice, both of Round Rock, TX.
