Check it out

The Summer Reading Club is in full swing at the Kyle Public Library. Mayor Lucy Johnson helped kick it off on Wednesday, June 8, by reading stories to a room full of attentive children (well, as attentive as children can be when they know there are piñatas, cookies and lemonade waiting for them). After listening to “Benny’s Pennies” and “Dig Dig Digging,” the children swarmed over the library’s children’s area where many new books were displayed. Although most of the new books were checked out that first day, many are already being returned, so children should be able to enjoy both new and older titles all summer long.
Don’t worry if you and your children haven’t signed up yet for the Summer Reading Club. It’s not too late. There are many exciting events yet to come, including two presentations of “Jungle Jim’s Bugs” on June 16 and “Splash Day” on July 7. And there is still plenty of time to receive raffle tickets for the books you read before the wrap-up party and raffle on Thursday, July 14. For more detailed information about the Summer Reading Club, come by the Kyle Public Library and pick up a brochure or go to www.kylelibrary.com and click on Summer Reading Club to view the brochure.
Keep cool this summer by stopping by the Kyle Public Library. We look forward to seeing you.
