Green tech guru joins Xtreme

STAFF REPORT

Xtreme Power has appointed a chief technology officer to oversee research and development at the growing company based in Kyle.

Alan J. Gotcher will also develop long-term strategies to promote Xtreme Power’s energy storage and digital power management systems. The company builds and operates massive batteries that store excess power from sources such as wind and the sun, discharging the power when demand is highest.

Gotcher’s “thought leadership and deep technical expertise are invaluable as Xtreme Power continues to secure market share, expand its team and deliver on projects,” said Carlos Coe, the company’s CEO.

From 2004 to 2008, Gotcher was president and CEO of the energy storage and power product company Altair Nanotechnologies. This spring, Xtreme Power was awarded a $43 million contract to design, install and operate a power storage system at the massive Notrees wind farm in West Texas. The company says it is “aggressively” hiring 30 top-talent engineers and scientists for its Kyle location.
