Dripping Springs ISD Board President Barbara Stroud has stepped down from her position and will be sitting as a board member.
“Thank you all for putting your trust in me to serve as your president,” Stroud said, “and I will say before I turn it over that it’s going to be my honor and my privilege to nominate Mary Jane Hetrick to serve as the role of president.”
On Tuesday night, Board Vice President Mary Jane Hetrick was unanimously approved as the new board president. Hetrick said she was honored and humbled to be elected as the board president.
Board Secretary Shannon O’Connor gave a small speech thanking Stroud for her service and welcoming Hetrick.
“I appreciate Barbara Stroud and your years of service and the calm and wisdom and patience that you’ve lent to this board for a numerous amount of years and for your service at DSISD,” O’Connor said. “I am thrilled that you will be still remaining on this board even if it’s not in the capacity of president and I wish you the very best reconnecting with your daughter who you have not seen in 18 months and happy that you have that opportunity to now do so. Mary, best of luck, it’s a lot of time and I appreciate your willingness to serve.”
As Hetrick’s first order, she nominated Board Member Joanna Day for Vice President. Day was unanimously approved into the position.
