Registration now available online
Hays CISD is currently offering online registration to all returning students for the 2011-2012 school year. The system will help parents by eliminating the traditionally time-consuming lines to fill out paper forms. The district indicates the process “will not eliminate all paperwork, (but) it will definitely quicken the registration process for parents.”
All pre-registering parents will receive a “FASTPASS” to quickly move through the paperwork tables at their designated campuses on back-to-school day or night. For parents needing computer access, school computer labs will be available to the public during regular campus hours starting August 1. Additionally, those computer labs will be available for special assistance on Thursday and Friday, August 4-5. To begin online registration, visit the district’s website homepage at www.hayscisd.net and click on the red box titled “Student Registration.” The district has established an email help address at [email protected].
Buda Vo-Ag dinner, dance to raise funds
The Buda Vocational Agriculture (Vo-Ag) Club hosts its Sixth Annual Dance and Dinner Saturday, August 13, 6 p.m.-midnight, at the Painted Horse Pavilion. A catered BBQ dinner, a silent and live auction, and music by the Sam Bentley Band highlight the evening. The club serves as the parent booster club for Buda 4-H and FFA students and assures that every student gets an equal opportunity to participate in the clubs. For more information, visit the club’s website at www.budavoag.org and tickets, priced at $20 for age 14 and up ($10 for ages 6-13), are available now. To donate to the auction, sponsor a table, or make a tax-deductible donation, contact Buda Vo-Ag Treasurer Kyle Adams at 921-7818 or [email protected].
Last call for Mini-Cheer Camp
Here’s a final call for Lehman High School’s Lobo Mini Cheer Camp, set for next Tuesday-Friday, July 26-29, from 8 a.m.to noon. The camp is for students in kindergarten through eighth grade and costs $50. A performance for parents will be held at 12:30 p.m. on the final day and campers earn the right to perform at a Lobo varsity game this fall. For more information or to register, write Lobo cheerleader sponsor Stacy Martinez at [email protected].
School supplies needed
It’s about this time of year that we traditionally start reinforcing local school supply drives and we’ll gladly continue that tradition as we hear of such efforts. Hays CISD’s Angie Mendez, Director of Community Relations, requests that all local drives coordinate with her office to identify specific needs and avoid duplications in donations. Contact Mendez at 268-2141, ext. 6078, or write her at [email protected].
Camino Real seeks tickets, passes
Camino Real Elementary School’s summer reading program offered the prospect of incentives for students who read 1,000 minutes and for those who met the challenge of earning 30 AR points or more. All of those students’ names are entered in a September drawing and the organizers are seeking donations of movie passes or Schlitterbahn tickets. Any help will surely be appreciated and donors should contact Rosemary Oliva at 268-8505, ext. 2403, or emailing [email protected].
