Good times in Mt. City

Mt. City Montage

by PAULINE TOM

A big thank you to Amy Hilton and the Loving Mountain City volunteers for coordinating and presenting the 3rd Annual Mountain City Parade and Lawn Mower Races.

With only three contestants, each contestant took home a trophy. Congrats to the Lawn Mower Race winners: 1st Place, Angela Garza; 2nd Place, Roland Garza; 3rd Place, Ryan Phillips.

First place took home a $100 gift card, a generous donation from Justice of the Peace Beth Smith.

Amy Hilton said, “Without the Kyle Fire Department and Kyle CMS our parade would not be near as much fun. Thank you very much for showing up and making our little town a lot more fun this special day of independence!”

My last Montage prompted Holly Cass to tidbit, “While sitting out in our backyard this past weekend, I watched as a Painted Bunting took a prolonged shower in one of our bird baths. He was gorgeous. Also watched two baby deer scuffle in our front yard. It was a white tail and an axis deer. The white tail chased the axis baby away and then settled into our flower bed for a nap. Isn’t it wonderful to be living in such a beautiful area! Yes, Salli, we too leave multiple water containers for the deer. We clean and refill every two days.”

Charlie Koehn, across the fence from us on Maple Drive, bought a raccoon trap last week, after raccoon siblings stole all his cantaloupes. Sunday night, we both trapped a young raccoon. Actually, we trapped two at once and one slipped through the bars on the trap door when we appeared at the trap.
