Lehman stages One Act Play on Friday

Lehman High School’s 2011 One Act Play, “The Miss Firecracker Contest,” is set for a public performance this Friday, March 25, 7 p.m., in the Lehman Theater. Play notes from Director Marissa Meek describe, “Carnelle Williams tries to mend her tarnished reputation by competing in the town beauty pageant but comes to learn that she has to forgive herself first. Along the way she finds love and laughter with a rag-tag group of family and friends.” Lehman and Hays students meet in their Zone One Act Play competition next Monday at Schertz Clemens High School.


Science Hall Health Fair Saturday

Science Hall Elementary School holds its 2nd annual Health Fair this Saturday, March 26, 9 a.m.-noon, in the school parking lot. Planned activities include a bouncy house and many carnival games at a low price, as well as an array of health-related vendors offering information. A blood drive is also being sponsored.  School nurse Maria Mendoza-Rodriguez, R.N., can be contacted at 268-8502 for more local information, but early registration is recommended at www.inyourhands.org, where the sponsor code of “sciencehall” will be required. Additional information, such as who is eligible to give blood, can also be found at the site.


Art reception Tuesday at PAC

The annual Hays CISD Youth Art Month reception is set for next Tuesday, March 29, 5:30-7:30 p.m., at the Performing Arts Center. The public is invited to this celebration of local art, featuring public exhibition of student artwork from across the district. Youth Art Month is an annual observance to emphasize the value of art education for all children and to encourage support for quality school art programs.


Lobo boosters host garage sale

The Lehman High School Booster Club will host a Saturday, April 2, garage sale in the student parking lot. Lobo supporters are being asked to donate any unused or unwanted items to be sold at the fundraiser. All proceeds benefit Lobo athletes, the LHS Athletic Department, and Lobo scholarships. Fuentes hosts 4th annual workshop

Fuentes Elementary School hosts the 4th annual “Family Matters!” Parenting Tools Workshop Saturday, April 2, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Free professional advice will be offered on setting routines, targeting behaviors, gaining compliance from difficult children and using positive reinforcement. Medicaid information, parent support groups, therapists, and summer camp information will all be available, as well as free breakfast snacks, childcare and door prizes. Earth Day Share Fair returns

Kyle Elementary School announces its 2nd annual Earth Day Share Fair Saturday, April 16, 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m., at City Square Park. As part of the event, the Panthers are sponsoring a blood drive and are asking donors to pre-register in order to ensure that the Blood Mobile can be on hand.
