It’s Independence Day celebration time with the annual Red, White & Buda coming up on Monday, July 4th. This is a time for kids to decorate their bikes, scooters, strollers and wagons and line up for the children’s parade at 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot across from Garcia’s on Main Street. The parade will start at 10 a.m. and go north on Main ending at Buda City Park where there will be free activities until noon. Starting at 6 p.m. there will be music by Keith Kelso, Kevin Smith and The Trishas as well as paid children’s activities and concessions. The final event will be the fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. Mark your calendar and plan to be there.

Oh, no…not a broken arm! Seems that our Free Press co-publisher Cyndy Barton fell, breaking her right arm (yes she is right-handed) and will be in a cast for a few weeks. Maybe this will get her the vacation that she never seems to have time for.

The free movie in Buda City Park on Friday, June 24 will be “Furry Vengeance” starting at 9 p.m.

The 115th annual Camp Ben McCulloch Reunion comes to an end on Friday, June 24. The old fiddlers contest gets underway at 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon under the pavilion. The contest features all ages of fiddle players and some of the best you have ever heard. There will be bingo, rides, food and lots of visiting on the grounds. The night ends with dancing under the starts with music by the Doug Moreland Band.

Don’t forget the Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament on Sunday, June 26, starting at 2 p.m. There are great prizes for the final eight players at the last table as well as many door prizes. This is a fund raising event benefiting the Onion Creek Senior Citizens in Buda and sponsored by the Buda Lions Club. Can you believe the first day of summer was Tuesday? We have been having “summer” for many days with over the 100-degree mark. Oh well the crepe myrtles are loving these sunny hot days as they shine in all their colorful glory.
