Rebs win district UIL title: 28 local students head for region

Kyle Parks & Recreation

by KERRY URBANOWICZ

As this weekend marks the seventh season at the Kyle Pool, we are pleased to share these improvements and changes, and remind new patrons of some pool policies.

Facility – The area around the pool within the fence was expanded to the north. The wide strip of grass between the pool and parking lot that was outside the pool fence is now inside the pool fence. Bring a towel and lay out on the cool grass.

Shade – The fabric shade covers around the deck have been replaced to provide comfortable seating around the pool.

Concessions – A full menu concession stand will be available at the pool as well as to all park users. Located near the flagpole, quench your thirst and cravings from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. with breakfast tacos, hamburgers, pizza, fruit, ice cream, drinks and more. Note that coolers, food and drink may no longer be brought into the pool.

Hours of Operation – Like most pools, the Kyle Pool opens Memorial Day weekend and closes Labor Day weekend. And like most pools, the Kyle Pool is closed on Mondays, except holiday Mondays. Kyle Pool is open daily when school is out. Open swim Tuesday through Friday is 12-6 p.m., Saturday, Sunday and holiday Mondays is 1-5 p.m. July 4 is 12-7 p.m.

Proper Swim Attire – This has always been debated but in maintaining proper pool chemical balance and filter operation, cotton and denim materials are not permitted in the pool. You may wear shorts and shirts over your swim suit, and they do not have to be white, however they do have to be free of cotton or denim. Examples include nylon, polyester or blends without cotton. Swim diapers are required of children needing diapers and these diapers can be purchased at the pool office.

Inflatables – Depending on the number of swimmers, inflatables may be permitted. Personal-flotation-devices, like ‘floaties’, are not permitted unless they are U.S. Coast Guard approved.

Parties – The Kyle Pool may be rented for private parties year-round, and swimming is permitted at these pool parties during the months of May-August. Plan your next event at the Kyle Pool by contacting the Kyle PARD Office.

Information – Available at www.kylepard.com, 512-262-3939 or Facebook/Kyle PARD.

Have a safe and fun summer – see you at the pool.
