Art students from both Hays and Lehman high schools returned from the Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) state competition recently with a host of medals, including one award that will send its entrant to a presentation ceremony in New York City this summer.
Lehman High School senior Jared Rodriguez, who’s earned state recognition in the past, reached a new level this spring as his “Pieces of Me” Mixed Media, Division 4 entry was named a Scholastic National Gold Medalist, the first-ever in this district and one of only a handful ever in Central Texas. He will receive his medal at Carnegie Hall in June.
