Hays softball team thumps Lady Rattlers in 12-1 romp

Low income and uninsured women can get a free mammogram on May 10 and 11 at the Hays County Personal Health Department in San Marcos.


The free mammograms are offered through the county in conjunction with the Susan G. Komen Austin affiliate and Seton Family of Hospitals.


The Seton Mobile Breast Cancer Screening Outreach Program uses a mobile mammography X-ray machine and a team of breast cancer screening professionals to bring services to women in need throughout Central Texas. They also offer breast health education.


To be screened, women must meet the following criteria:

• Must be at least 40 years old

• No breast implants, not pregnant, not breast feeding, and no current breast problems

• No insurance, Medicaid, Medicare (exceptions for women who are low income and insured with a high deductible)

• Must be low income

• No mammograms within the past year

• No history of breast cancer
