Congratulations to 17-year-old Chrissie Smith of Buda, who recently earned the Gold Award in Girl Scouts which is the highest level of recognition. Smith, a student at Hays High School, completed a project called Find-A-Tomb which consists of an electronic catalog of tombstones in cemeteries in the Buda/Kyle area. She uploaded each picture to the USGenWeb Project archives website for genealogical research. Smith is the daughter of Randall and Sandra Smith.

Congressman Lloyd Doggett paid a visit to the Onion Creek Senior Citizens Center in Buda on Thursday, June 3. Congressman Doggett talked about the new health insurance reform in relation to seniors and answered questions presented to him.

The City of Buda’s Parks and Recreation Department will present a free movie in the park on Friday, June 11. The movie “Monsters vs. Aliens” is rated PG and starts at 9 p.m. Seating is on the grass so bring a lawn chair or blanket.
