Carl (Chuck) Cherkitz, 64, a 16 year resident of Buda, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Seton Medical Center Hays after a two year battle with COPD. He is survived by wife, Maria Cherkitz and daughter, Liza Pampiona of Buda; son, Duarte Pamplona; daughter-in-law, Catherine and grandchildren Maya and Ethan of Anchorage, Alaska; sister Rose; brother-in-law Steve Granz; brother William Cherkitz and daughter Christy Ahrens; son-in-law Will and grandsons Pierce and Hayden.
A decorated Veteran of Viet Nam, Carl moved to Buda in 1995 and worked for AMD and South Point Dodge. He also was owner of R&R Fencing.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. at Santa Cruz Catholic Church. Mr. Cherkitz’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the ICU doctors and staff at Seton Medical Center Hays for their professionalism and outstanding care of Carl until his final moments.
