M. Charles Rogers, Jr., 66, of Kyle, was born in Houston on May 31, 1944 and died on June 9, 2010 in Austin surrounded by family and friends. He leaves his wife of thirty-one years, Glenda; daughter and son-in-law, Dashelle and Ted Hobert also of Kyle; his beloved grandson, Zac; and sister, Juanita Jordan of Houston.
Charles was a gentle, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was an avid photographer. His favorite activity was spending time with Zac, attending his baseball games, taking him to UT games, or just hanging out. Zac will miss his “Paw-Paw” and family and friends will miss their “Turtle Man.” Charles shared his love of scuba diving with his wife and friends and enjoyed travel. In 2009 he visited Tanzania, Africa and Hawaii with Glenda. The majority of Charles’ career was spent as a safety and risk management professional.
A celebration of Charles’ life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 19, at Buda United Methodist Church, 302 Elm St., Buda. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Charles’ name be made to the Texas Arthritis Foundation, Texas Chapter, 4300 MacArthur, Suite 245, Dallas, TX 75209-6524.
