The Lehman and Hays high school choirs have qualified two dozen students to state competition after the recent UIL Solo & Ensemble contest.
The first level of competition was hosted by the Leh-man Choir and featured vocalists from twenty-five competing schools. Lobo Choir Director Daniel Arredondo, admitting pride in his thirteen state-qualifying singers, says “ I am impressed with the level of maturity of musicianship and dedication within this group. The level of talent is off the radar.”
Arredondo concludes, “I could not be more proud.”
Nancy Cavendish, his Hays High School counterpart, voices the same level of appreciation for her choir members, eleven of whom advance to state. “We had a total of 29 students with 22 receiving first division ratings and 11 qualifying for state. I am proud of their participation.”
Thirteen Lobos will represent Lehman at the state competition over the Memorial Day weekend by virtue of first division ratings on Class 1 Solos. They include Nancy Alatorre, Michaela Castillo, Sesily Faddis, Jackie Fuller, Andreah Garcia, Amber

Additional strong showings came from Lobos Journey Adkins, Katherine Arredondo, Joshua Banbury, Kori Clark, Leila Corbitt, Kristen Lyle, Monica Manriquez, Zahairah Montelongo, Chris Park, Lladira Patino, Tiffany Perales, Claudia Reyes-Monry, Ashley Perales and Chelsea Perales.
Additional Hays participants with strong showings included Analicia Alvarez, Kellie Brewer, Emily Buslett, Alexandra Caballero, Lane Cagle, Chantal Hundt-Nicksch, Iris Jimenez, Brittany Knedlik, Ashley Loosier, Shelby Luke, Natalie Lyon, Arianna Martinez, Kaygan Nielson, Peyton Perez, Ally Rubenzer, Sydney Rye, Erin Wieser and Lindsey Yazbek.
