Though heavy rainfall this winter officially brought a two-year drought to an end, area residents are preparing to begin conserving water again through the dry summer months.
The Kyle City Council approved a voluntary twice per week watering schedule starting this week, city officials say.
Kyle residents are being asked to stick to a watering schedule in order to continue water conservation efforts that were instituted during last year’s drought. Cutting back on watering may also reduce monthly water bills.
If drought conditions arise, the schedule may become mandatory. More information is available on the City of Kyle website at www.cityofkyle.com.
The City of Buda currently has no mandatory watering restrictions, but asks residents to voluntarily limit their water use.
City of Kyle Twice per Week Watering Schedule
Residential Odd-Numbered Addresses
Wednesday and/or Saturday
Residential Even-Numbered Addresses
Thursday and/or Sunday
Commercial & Multi-Family
Tuesday and/or Friday
Watering is permitted before 10 a.m. and after 7 p.m.
Tips on water conservation:
• Regularly check for leaks, including broken sprinkler heads, leaking valves, leaking or broken pipes, or leaking faucets.
• Do not operate an irrigation system with:
- a broken head
- a head that is out of adjustment where the arc of the spray head is over a street or parking lot
- a head that is misting due to high water pressure
• Don’t allow water to run off property such that there is a trail of water running in the street for a distance of 50 feet or greater
• Don’t allow water to pond in the street or parking lot to a depth greater than 1?4 inch.
