Lone Star outlaw escapes The Rock

STAFF REPORTS

Seniors at Hays, Lehman and Academy high schools will be turning the tassels on their caps and walking the stage this week, but they won’t be the only ones celebrating their academic achievement.

Hays County Literacy Action will honor GED recipients at the annual Hays County GED Graduation Ceremony at the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center in Kyle next Thursday, June 10, at 6:30 p.m.

It will be a traditional ceremony with graduates wearing caps and gowns and walking across the stage to be individually acknowledged and presented with certificates of achievement.

This year’s guest speaker is San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz. Student speakers are also invited to share their thoughts.

A small reception for friends and families will be held after the ceremony, and a photographer will be available for group and individual photos.

GED certificate recipients who live, work, have studied or tested in Hays County and are interested in participating in the graduation ceremony should call the San Marcos Public Library Learning Center at (512) 393-8215, or the Kyle Learning Center at (512) 268-2719, as soon as possible for information and to reserve a place.
