No Bullies at Camino Real
No Bullying Week got a grand showing at Camino Real Elementary recently, with activities including a door-decorating contest, daily Roadrunner recitations of “40 Assets” selections and Americorps and Communities in Schools-facilitated construction of anti-bullying chain-links. A student-signed resolution of respect demonstrated personal dedication to the campus “No Place for Hate” stance.
Hornets help Haiti
Tom Green Elementary students had a strong hand in district-wide efforts to help those still suffering in Haiti. Fifth-graders Destiny Rocha and Mackenzie Smith started “Hornets Have Wings,” an effort that generated $322 in donations to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund. Third-grader Humberto Godinez and volunteers Eli and Ester Tavarez oversaw a clothing drive that filled 32 boxes to be sent to the earthquake-ravaged country. Tom Green Counselor Susan Tiffee says, “We thank all Hornets and their families for lending a helping hand to the people of Haiti.”
