Student art work adopted by local businesses

John Wesley Hardin (Dub, J. W., Shotgun), 83, of Buda was born in Liberty Hill, Texas on September 1, 1927 and passed away Thursday, January 6, 2011.


John grew up as a ranch hand in the Georgetown-Leander area. His enjoyment in life was breaking and training horses, time with his friends while fishing and hunting and telling his stories and his many jokes. He retired from HEB as a meat market manger with 28 years of service.


He was preceded in death by parents, Roy and Angie Hardin; brother, J.C. Hardin; sisters, Frances Peterson and Mary Ellen VonMerz and son-in-law, George Ray Holden.


He is survived by wife, Emma; son, John Wesley Hardin, Jr. (Julie); daughters, Darla Jean Hon (Charlie); Karen Sue Holden; Sharon Lanette Lowden (Dale); Kimberli Ann Wiley and Billy; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and many relatives and friends.


Funeral services were held Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Harrell Funeral Home in Austin. Pallbearers were Travis Hardin, Coy Lowden, Dale Lowden, Billy Franklin, Jason Warren, Mark Faltesek and Alex Verver.


Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice Austin, 2810 E. Martin Luther King Blvd., Austin, TX 78702 in memory of John W. Hardin.
