Buda Bits

“Fill the empty bowl” by purchasing a bowl of homemade soup on Sunday, February 27 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the old Kyle City Hall. The Kyle/Buda Women Democrats sponsor the event, which will benefit the Hays County Food Bank. The menu includes a delicious homemade bowl of soup along with homemade bread, cookies and a drink for a $20 donation. The first 100 guests will receive a hand-thrown soup bowl designed and donated by the Texas State University Ceramics Program.

On Thursday, March 10, the annual membership meeting of the Onion Creek Senior Citizens will be held. This non-profit senior organization has been serving this community since it held its first organizational meeting at the lower campus of Buda Elementary School in January of 1984. The membership meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. with a business meeting at which three directors will be elected to the board for three-year terms. At 10:30 a.m. a live auction will be held followed by a beef and chicken fajita lunch served at 12:15 p.m. for $8. The public is invited to attend.

Many thanks to the Buda/Kyle Girl Scouts for decorating the Onion Creek Senior Center last Thursday. It brightened up our center with all the valentine cards and sweets.

The annual Girl Scout cookie sale is about to end. The last day to purchase a box of cookies or give a box back to the scouts to send to our soldiers is Friday, Feb. 25. Hurry and get several boxes soon.
