New guidelines for the new school year


Refugia “Cuca” De Leon of Kyle beloved and cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away in San Marcos, Texas, on Friday, October 1, 2010, at the age of 84. She was born December 22, 1925 in Buda, Texas, to Ignacio and Rosa (Martinez) Rodriguez.


She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Kyle and she loved to watch “Novelas”.


Her parents, husband, Esequiel De Leon, Sr., brother, Ignacio “Skippy” Rodriguez and sisters, Lucy McCoy and Rafaelita Rodriguez preceded her in death.


She is survived by two sons, Esequiel “Zeke” De Leon, Jr. and James De Leon and very special daughter-in-law, Jerri De Leon; four daughters, Gloria Avalos and husband, Fred, Angie De Leon and husband, Sam Tenorio, Jr., Alice Garcia and husband, Juan and Esther Leal and husband, Edward; two brothers, Onesimo Rodriguez and Alfred Rodriguez; five sisters, Helen Alcala, Theresa Rayos, Mary Acosta, Nora Romero and Margaret Villareal; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.


Recitation of the Holy Rosary was October 4 and Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated October 5, 2010, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Kyle. Interment followed at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale. Serving as pallbearers were Richard De Leon, Mike Avalos, Alan Leal, Erik Garcia, Alex De Leon and Mark De Leon. Honorary pallbearers were Brandon De Leon and Christian Saucedo.
