The Buda Public Library along with the Friends of the Library will present author Vannetta Chapman on Saturday, October 23. A luncheon will be served from 1 until 2 p.m. featuring Amish recipes. Tickets are $15 and available at the library.  A book signing of Chapman’s book “A Simple Amish Christmas” will follow the lunch from 2 until 3 p.m.

Have you selected just the right pumpkin from the Pumpkin Patch in Buda? The patch is located in downtown Buda on the corner next to the Carrington House on Main Street. The patch is a very good place for that special Halloween photo. Stop by soon.

Again this year there will be a Boo-da Halloween in downtown Buda. There will be stories, crafts and games at the Buda Library plus “trick or treat” at the Main Street businesses. Dress up in your favorite costume and take a stroll downtown on Thursday, Oct. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Hope this is a better week for Billie Franke. Last week Billie has surgery on Thursday for a broken bone in her elbow.

Still time to join the group of walkers at Hays YMCA at the Buda Sportsplex for the 1st annual Buda/Kyle CROP Walk. The event is Sunday, Oct. 17, with registration at 1:30 p.m. and walk beginning at 2 p.m. If interested, contact Kate Shaw, head of the Hays County Food Bank at 512-392-8300 or visit www.cropwalk.org/budatx. Hays County Food Bank will be sharing their proceeds with the Buda Food Pantry, which is located on the grounds of Buda United Methodist Church.

Skip the long lines on Election Day and vote early at the various voting places. Early voting starts on Monday, Oct. 18 and ends on Wednesday, Oct. 29 for the Nov. 2 election.
