Lloyd Gaines Kile was born in Chattanooga ,Tennessee on November 20, 1930 to Okley and Olie Kile (one of six children) and died on October 5, 2010 in Drippings Springs, Texas. After graduating from high school he later enlisted in the military and while stationed in Valdosta, Ga., he met and married Mary (Madelon) Cowart on Dec. 18, 1957. They had three children (Valerie, Lloyd Jr. and Zachary). After Zachary was born, he moved his family to Austin, Texas in 1967. Lloyd’s career was very unique in that he served in three branches of the U.S. armed services. He joined the “proud and the few” as a Marine, he explored the depths of the world’s oceans in the submarine service and compiled a distinguished set of tours of duty in the United States Air Force. After retiring from the USAF (at the rank of Major), Lloyd would often reflect back on the days when he could fly some of the military’s most awesome machines and he shared some incredible stories about his service while stationed in Korea. He had many other accomplishments in his life. He was very proud to have graduated from Florida St. University. He also started his own photography studio called “The Studio” where he specialized in portrait photography and weddings. He then worked for the Chevron corporation and finally retired to his country home (Twisted Oaks) in Dripping Springs, Texas with his wife Madelon. Lloyd enjoyed reading, playing golf and was a history buff, but flying airplanes, photography and gazing over their hill country view with his beloved wife of almost 52 years was what he loved most. He was a great man to know and he worked hard at everything, especially providing for his family. Beloved husband, father and grandfather, you will be in our hearts always and forever. WE LOVE YOU. Preceded in death by: mother and father (Okley and Olie) and brother (Ray Kile). Survived by : wife (Mary Madelon Kile), brothers (Elmer and Eugene Kile of Chattanooga), sisters (Ressa Stobaugh of Jacksonville, FL & Rebecca Sue Hill of Chattanooga), children (daughter - Valerie & sons - Lloyd Jr. and Zachary - all of Austin), son-in-law (Lucian Dale Turk of Austin), daughter-in-law (Kris Kile of Anchorage, Alaska), and grandchildren (Lucian Kile Turk, Madison Kile, Logan Kile and Chance Kile). Services will be held in a private setting at “Twisted Oaks” in Dripping Springs .
