Buda Library needs you

On Center

by BRENDA STEWART

This is crazy. I can not seem to find anything going on in this town this week. Even our council meeting was yesterday. And all the websites I checked were totally unhelpful with all their late breaking news info about August. I  feel like I’m in some kind of time warp. We’re eight days into the new month, folks, flip your calendar and update your websites. It makes me feel like running a contest to see which city website is furthest out of date and hardest to maneuver.

Luckily, in last week’s Free Press, Judge Anna Martinez Boling invited us all to a “Meet and Greet” with refreshments and a fashion show to boot. We’ll be meeting down at the Motley Menagerie on Center Street at 6:30 p.m. Friday night to hang out, get in on some styles and show our support for one of Hays Counties’ finest judges. Should be fun.

Okay. Now we’re talking. After some pretty serious searching, I stumbled across something for all the grown-up kids to do. It’s not actually until next month but if you sign up before the end of September, you save $5, so it’s worth mentioning this far out.

Kyle’s first ever “Hooked on Fishing” scholarship bass tournament is happening October 9 at the Plum Creek Preserve and Nature Trail’s Lake Kyle. There are a couple of kickers, though. They won’t let you register on the day of the event, you’ve got to be at least 18 years old and possess a valid Texas Freshwater Fishing License, and they won’t let you bring your dog. But, it’s a charity (all proceeds fund the Kid’s Fishing Clinic and Derby held in June) and hey, it’s fishing in Kyle.

Hmmm. Looks like you only have 44 more days to get your adult kickball league registration in for the winter season. The kids are back in school. The pool closed. The last movie in the park was shown on Friday.

Yawn. Update your websites and then send information about anything fun happening to “submit an item” under the calendar tab on our website to keep us posted at www.haysfreepress.com.
