Advocate’s last fight

Check it out

by GEORGIE CUNNINGHAM

Now that summer is over, it’s time to tackle all those tasks you had planned such as redecorating your living room, building shelves for your tool shed, or planting a garden. Are you still planning a vacation, but can’t decide whether to drive to the coast or to the mountains? Have you wanted to host a splendid dinner party for your closest friends or has your community group asked you to prepare several tasty casseroles for its fund raiser?

Perhaps you have been at a loss for ideas. With its wonderful book collection, the Buda Library can help you find solutions to your problems. The library has an extensive collection of “how to” books with ideas and instructions for accomplishing your goals.

The entertainment books have interesting ideas and suggested party themes from setting beautiful tables to hosting simple picnics in the back yard. Many cookbooks offer a broad collection of recipes while others focus on topics such as holiday meals, weight control, Irish cooking, Mexican food, grilling, desserts or country cooking. Testing some of the recipes can be an excellent way to start entertainment plans.

Travel books are available for many areas. Topics frequently include information about scenic points, lodging, restaurants, weather, currency, appropriate dress, safety, child activities and care, transportation and passports. The books can inspire the reader to follow the instructions in packing a bag and making reservations immediately.

The library has other books with ideas and instructions about home repairs, decorating and gardening. Beautiful pictures provide inspiration while texts provide detailed but easy to follow instructions to improve your home and yard.

These topics are just samples of the exceptional books the library offers the public. Reading library books can educate as well as entertain the reader exploring new horizons.
