In one of every school year’s most celebrated ceremonies, the Hays High School chapter of the National Honor Society inducted 60 academic standouts into the organization.
A large and enthusiastic audience of current NHS members, families and friends gathered with the inductees to enjoy the moment.
National Honor Society President Casie Lomeli welcomed the inductees and the audience, publicist Amanda Pettit led the pledges, and historian Jordan Hall provided background for the organization. Academic dean Teri Eubank inducted the officers and Treasurer Marissa McCann, Lomeli, Pettitt and secretary Alex Trowbridge explained the deeper meaning of the society’s four pillars – Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character.
Lomeli officially brought the group into the local chapter and vice president Nadia Dib led them in taking the inductees pledge, which commits members “to uphold the high purposes of the National Honor Society” and binds them “to be true to the principles for which it stands.”
Hays High’s National Honor Society Advisors Kathie Gilson and Devi Puckett were on hand to offer sincere welcomes to their incoming members and the program concluded with a full round of picture-taking of the inductees.
