Summer is quickly slipping by, doggone it, but there are still plenty of ‘cool’ things to do in the Kyle Parks before heading back to school. Here are just a few of them:
Movies in the Park – This Friday night in Gregg-Clarke Park at sundown, bring the entire family out to watch “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.” The August 13 movie is a funny one titled “Imagine That.”
Kyle Market Days – The first Saturday of August (7th), City Square Park will be jumping with great music, eclectic vendors and a school supply drive. Bring some new school supplies to fill up the truck for Hope & Love 4 Kids. The live music in the morning features Ranch Rd 12 playing their Hill Country bluegrass and the noon show features America’s Got Talent semi-finalists Blake & Fallon playing their hits.
Kyle Pool – The place to “keep it cool” stays open for weekly swimming until school starts. After school starts, the pool will be open weekends on August 28 & 29 and Sept. 4, 5 and Labor Day, Sept. 6.
Kyle Fair & Music Festival – Early registration for vendor booths, parade participants, bass fishing tournament, Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament and 5-Kyle-o-Meter Fun Run is now open. Vendor booths are still available for food or non-food items (with electricity and without) close to the music stage or close to the KidZone. The parade uses a state highway (Center St.) and, because of that, the spaces are very limited. If you would like to have a float in the parade, get your form turned in now. New for this year is the Bass Fishing Tournament. Lake Kyle is not open to the public, so the fish are only getting bigger. The $20 early registration fee funds the Kids Fishing Clinic held in June. There are great prizes to the winners of each flight. The Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament will be held in the Historic Kyle City Hall once again. Join the fun! The five kilometer fun run is a great challenge, but the name 5-Kyle-o-Meter is a cute name – agree?
