Just like everyone, I was sad to hear of the loss of Club 21 in Uhland. Many good times were had at the old dance hall as well as the bowling alley where the Free Press held their staff Christmas parties in January. If the walls could talk...what they could tell of the life and times of folks around this area.

Dress your kids up in their favorite Halloween costume and come to downtown Buda for the annual Boo-da celebration starting at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 28. There will be Halloween stories, crafts and games at the Buda Public Library and Trick-or-Treat at the Buda downtown businesses.

Members of First Baptist Church invite everyone to come to a Gospel Sing on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m. The church is located at 104 South San Marcos Street in Buda.

Also the First Baptist Church is inviting the community to a Treat-in-the-Trunk on Halloween, Sunday, Oct. 31 in the parking lot at 104 South San Marcos. The event starts at 5:30 p.m.

Anniversary wishes go out to Pam and Mark Smith as they celebrate their wedding day on Oct. 29. November anniversary wishes go out to JoAnn and Melvin Thames on the 1st; Judy and Roger Myers on the 2nd and Shirley and Bill Burrell on the 3rd.

Arveda Alzheimer’s Family Care located at 645 RM 967 in Buda is sponsoring a free Alzheimer’s caregiver support group on the first Wednesday of each month at noon. The next meeting is Wed., Nov. 3. For more information call the center at 295-5600.

Mark your calendar for downtown Buda’s “first Thursday” which will be Nov. 4. Come join your friends and have a fun time walking the streets of old town, shopping the various stores and eating at the restaurants.

If you have not already voted early, you still have an opportunity on Friday, Oct. 29 at Buda City Hall from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.  Election Day is Tues., Nov. 2 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Remember your vote does count.
