Life as a non-smoker

Odds & Ends

by MYRTLE HEIDEMAN

Wow! Believe it or not, the Hays County Youth Livestock Show had beautiful weather for the entire show. I remember several years of “awful” weather.

Speaking of the youth show, congratulations to Ranson and Cooper Moore, sons of Mike and Debbie Moore of Kyle (our great-grandsons). Both boys participated in the Hays County Youth Livestock Show this past weekend and both came out winners.

Ranson came home with Reserve Champion of the OPB (other purebred) class with his Poland Swine and Intermediate Class Showmanship Champion. Cooper came home with Reserve Champion of the Duroc Class with his swine and Junior Class Showmanship Champion. They both have beautiful belt buckles to show off. Congratulations boys, Opa and Oma are proud of you!

Dates to remember for St. John Lutheran Church: Feb. 5 – Women’s Guild meets at the rec center for noon lunch, so bring a covered dish, dessert or your favorite food and join the ladies. Classes for Lutheran orientation will continue Sunday morning at 9 a.m.

Feb. 12 - Men’s Fellowship at 9 a.m. Always a good breakfast, sometimes a few chores, but always good fellowship. Mark your calendar on Feb. 20 for the charter celebration services at 10:30 a.m. More information to come.

Happy birthday to Austin James Villarreal, son of Oscar and Melissa, who celebrated his birthday Jan. 30 at his parent’s home in Kyle (his birthday is Jan. 30) and he was two years old. Happy birthday also to Clarence Heideman, whose birthday is Feb. 5. He will be a few years older than two.
