WENZEL

SUBMITTED REPORT

Michael Wenzel, son of Mark and Ruth Wenzel of Buda, has earned the Eagle Scout ranking, the highest level of recognition in the Boy Scouts.

Wenzel, 15, is a sophomore at Hays High School and a member of Troop 967 chartered by Buda United Methodist Church.

For his Eagle project, Wenzel coordinated and oversaw the renovation of the Buda United Methodist Church Community Food Bank. The food bank serves approximately 150 families in the surrounding area.

Wenzel’s project consisted of removing the old shelves and replacing them with new stainless steel shelving units, repainting the inside and outside of the building and consolidating all the refrigerators and freezers on one wall.

This project increased the food storage capacity and created an easier space for the volunteers to stock and maintain. It also facilitated a smoother flow of clients through the food bank.

Wenzel solicited and received over 140 volunteer man hours and $1,665.88 in donated funds and materials to complete the project.
