Julius Wilburn Hill, 93, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010. He was born January 17, 1917 in the Kyle area. He was baptized in the Blanco River at the age of nine. He attended the old Hemphill Elementary School and graduated salutatorian from Kyle High School. He went to Southwest Teachers College in San Marcos from 1934-1936. He taught school at his old Hemphill Elementary and several other schools. He served in the U.S. Navy as a navigator. He married Barbara Allen on February 3, 1945. In 1946 he went into business with his cousin Leslie Hill in San Marcos.
He is survived by wife, Barbara of Garfield; four children, Judy and husband John Davis of South America; Sandra and husband Thomas Gavin of Garfield; Robert (Bobby) and wife Carrie Hill of North Carolina and Jimmy Hill of Austin; sister, Jewell McGee of Kyle; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and growing.
A memorial service was held Friday, November 12, 2010 at Hill Country Church in San Marcos with Pastor Jim Darnell officiating.
