BRYANT

SUBMITTED REPORT

Sandra Bryant of Kyle announced her candidacy for the Hays CISD at-large trustee position vacated by Mark Jones upon his election to the Hays County Commissioners Court.

“I’ve volunteered for the school district for many years, serving in various positions. Now is the time for me to step up to the plate and participate in the important policy decisions that affect our children’s future,” Bryant said.

Bryant has worked for Lifeworks as a mentor and youth care worker, and also was the residential counselor for a treatment center for children. Her numerous volunteer efforts include: chairwoman of the Amberwood Homeowners Association’s social committee; a founding member of the Ladies of Amberwood and Girlzunited; member of the Old Kyle Depot Board.  Bryant also serves on the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center Board.

Bryant will bring her expertise and strong work ethic to the Board of Trustees. She is a champion of restoring balance to the education of our children. She believes the school district should work to exceed the expectations of Texas Academic Skill Program. The results will be that our students will gain the skills necessary to insure their success in college. And this will empower them to compete for the best jobs and build a stronger future for all of us. Our schools are facing enormous challenges today, as are our children.  Bryant stands firm that smaller classes are critical in curbing the drop-out rate. Only by giving our teachers the tools they require will it be possible for them to effectively teach our students.  Bryant will work diligently to keep our parents and our communities informed of the district’s programs and their impact on our students’ education. “Building public support for education can only be achieved through a stronger relationship between parents and the district.”

Bryant is a parent with children in the Hays CISD and believes strongly in parent participation in the education of our children. She moved to Hays County in 2004 and actively participated in events and organizations within the school district. Many people know her as the volunteer coach for the Hays Youth Basketball Association. Bryant also serves on the Hays CISD Growth Impact Committee and the Calendar Committee. She helped organize the first PTA at Science Hall Elementary, served as secretary for the Chapa 2009 School PTA, and was a member of the Lehman High School PTA. She is married to Ray Bryant, who served on the Kyle City Council and recently ran for Hays County Commissioner Precinct 2, Bryant’s qualifications for serving on the Hays CISD Board of Trustees are as numerous as they are outstanding. Her dedication and commitment to the job at hand is summed up by her statement: “Our children are our future. I care about our children.”
