A 39-year-old Kyle man was found guilty and sentenced to 45 years in prison Thursday for the aggravated sexual assault of a child, officials say.
Gerardo Delarosa sexually abused the child for a period of four years, beginning when the child was only seven years old, the Hays County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday.
A jury of 10 men and two women took less than an hour to convict Delarosa last month after two days of testimony. Delarosa elected to have the court assess his punishment, which ranged from five years to life in prison, the district attorney’s office said.
Visiting District Judge Mark Lutjen presided over the court, while Assistant District Attorneys Cathy Compton and Amy Lockhart prosecuted the case.
