The Buda Public Library is offering a new free service to students called ePrep. ePrep is an online video preparation course that helps students prepare for the PSAT, SAT, ACT, PLAN, and SSAT upper and lower level tests. The GED is expected to be added by February. All you need is a Buda Library card, so come on in and sign up.
Once you sign up for an ePrep account, select a test to prepare for and when you plan on taking it. ePrep will generate a schedule for your lessons. Next, go to the “Exam Room” section to download and print sections of the test to take. This replicates the real test. Then, enter your answers. It will grade them and tell you what you need to work on. Each question comes with a video that will explain how to work through it. In the “Study Hall” section, you can watch lessons on a specific subject that is included in the test. This is also great for parents who need to brush up on a subject to help their children with homework. There’s also a section on “strategy” that has videos on testing strategies, how the admissions process works, general essay advice and much more. The “Wordsmith” section takes the most common vocabulary from several years’ tests and sorts them into sections. You go through the words, marking whether you are comfortable with them or not. Then, ePrep creates quizzes to help you learn the words that you said you didn’t know or weren’t sure about.
ePrep can be accessed at any time, from any Internet-capable computer. Just sign in to the Library’s catalog with your card number and phone number, then scroll down and click the ePrep icon.
