Late 2010 upturn raises Hays sales tax receipt

Check It Out

by DORIS McWHORTER

January is a good time for a fresh start. Put away the Christmas decorations, clean out a closet and maybe read a new bestseller. In our community a good place to start with new resolutions we can keep is the Buda Public Library. New and cherished novels are always available for check-out. You may choose to relax with up-to-date magazines and newspapers in the quiet reading area.Want to improve your mind a bit?  Take a look at the “Great Courses” CDs, recorded by leading professors.

Resolve to take your pre-schoolers and toddlers to storytime at the library. What a wonderful head start in reading skills and enjoyment for them.Pack sandwiches and enjoy them at the picnic tables under the wonderful oaks in front of the library. Your children will not forget these pleasures with you.

Tax season is coming soon. The IRS is not mailing out copies of forms this year, but you can find them at the library. A copier and fax machine are available, and computers are available for free internet access.

Help yourself and people in need by bringing in a few canned goods or other non-perishable food items to the library. These go to the Food Pantry at the Buda UMC. Each item donated will forgive $1 of an overdue book fine.

Want more information about the library or services?  Call us at 295-5899 or email [email protected]. You can join Friends of the Buda Library at [email protected].
