SUBMITTED REPORT

Hays County residents will have an opportunity on Wednesday, January 19 to offer comment at a public meeting in Wimberley on Hays County’s draft assessment on water and wastewater facility needs.

The meeting will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center, 14068 Ranch Road 12. The public is encouraged to attend and provide input on the study’s draft recommendations. The draft study includes an assessment of current conditions and water and wastewater service demand and supplies, makes alternative forecasts of future growth and associated service needs and defines current and future unmet needs. Also included is an assessment of alternative management strategies for addressing unmet needs and identification of preliminary recommendations of water management actions needed in the next 50 years. The study focuses primarily on the area west of the Interstate 35 corridor cities.

The comment period for the draft report closes on February 3, at 5 p.m. and the final report is expected in late February. The draft plan is available for review on the Hays County website at www.co.hays.tx.us/draftwaterplan. Comments should be sent to Jeff Hauff, Hays County Grants Administration, [email protected], or 111 E. San Antonio St., Suite 303, San Marcos, TX 78666.

The study is sponsored by the Hays County Commissioners Court with funding support from the Texas Water Development Board and 10 regional and local government entities and utilities with jurisdiction over portions of the planning area.
