Pre-K registration finishing
The final days of summer Pre-K registration for the 2010-2011 school year are scheduled through this Friday at Simon Middle School. Held at Hemphill Elementary and Tom Green Elementary, the district’s half-day Pre-K program is for four-year-old students meeting eligibility criteria that include: qualify for free or reduced lunch, limited English proficiency, parent is on active military duty, or child is in foster care.
Students may be registered at any time, but designated times, based on child’s last name, are recommended to cut down on wait time. The remaining schedule includes Thursday, July 15, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. for S-Z and Friday, July 16, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. for open registration.
To register, a birth certificate, immunization record, Social Security card or state ID and proof of residence will be required. New student registration for the district’s elementary, middle and high school students is set for July 26-27 during regular school hours. Parents unsure about which school their child will attend should call 268-2141.
Athletic physicals needed
Beating the inevitable August crush to get students’ athletic physicals is always good advice this time of year. The Hays CISD WELL Clinic, located on the campus of Simon Middle School on East FM 150, is offering the physicals – by appointment only – during summer hours to Hays CISD students. Services are also available for children who have siblings in the district. The clinic is open this summer from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Call for an appointment at 268-5218.
The WELL Clinic is also advising an alternate source for athletic physicals at the office of Dr. Gregg Risner. Calls for appointments are preferred, though not yet required, at Risner’s office located at the corner of East FM 150 and Lehman Road. Call 268-2273.
