School supply drive kick-off
Whataburger and Hope and Love 4 Kids kicks off a 2010 school supply drive Friday, July 2, 5-7 p.m. at the Whataburger located at 5401 FM 1626, in Kyle. All donations will directly benefit Hays CISD students. The first 50 to donate receive a free Whataburger, and new backpack donations get a $5 gift card. Also on tap are free face painting, photos with WhataGuy and HEB Buddy and Games2U mobile gaming. For a complete list of locally-required school supplies, visit www.hopeandlove4kids.org.
Time for Pre-K registration
Pre-K registration for the 2010-2011 school year is scheduled for Monday-Friday, July 12-16, at Simon Middle School. Half-day Pre-K classes at Hemphill Elementary and Tom Green Elementary are for four-year-old students who meet eligibility criteria that include: qualifying for free or reduced lunch, limited English proficiency, parent is on active military duty, or child is in foster care.
Students may be registered at any time, but designated times, based on child’s last name, are recommended to cut down on wait time. The scheduled includes Monday, July 12, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. for A-F; Tuesday, July 13, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. for G-L; Wednesday, July 14, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. for M-R; Thursday, July 15, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. for S-Z; and Friday, July 16, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. for open registration.
