Buda Bits

The Buda Fire Department invites all to come to the Gazebo in downtown Buda this Saturday morning at 10 a.m. for the unveiling of Buda’s new EMS service. The new paramedics will be sworn in and the new ambulances will be on display for the public to see. Starting Friday, Oct. 1, the Buda Fire Department will take over EMS service in Buda and the Northeast Hays County area. The Buda Fire Department will staff two ambulances 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from the fire stations at 3502 RR 967 and 151 FM 2001.

The Deison family descendents hit Buda last Saturday for their annual family reunion at the Onion Creek Senior Citizens Center. About 40 folks came from Austin, Boerne, Georgetown, Houston, Johnson City, Red Rock, as well as, Buda. The oldest in attendance was 90-year-old Myrtle (Deison) Johnson of the Buda area and her seven-month-old great grandson Jordan Brewer of Houston was the youngest.

Get ready to see lots and lots of pumpkins coming to town. The annual Pumpkin Patch will start filling up on Friday, October 1 around 5 p.m. with the arrival of a truck full of pumpkins, many sizes and shapes. The men’s group at the Buda United Methodist Church sponsors the Pumpkin Patch. The pumpkins will be for sale every day until sold out.

Have you noticed the survey markers at the corner lot on Main Street across from the Carrington House? Owner Mark Moore of Austin is planning to build a two story, 4800-square-foot commercial building on the site. Now he is just waiting for the right tenant(s) to come forward before construction starts.

Birthday wishes go out to Craig Smith on Sept. 23; Mary Purvis on Sept. 24; Joseph Scivicque on Sept. 25; Jack Dahlstrom on Sept. 27; Adeline Odell on Sept. 28.


Also birthday wishes go out to Katherine Brewer who will be 21 years old on Sept. 28. Katherine is a longtime resident of Mountain City, a graduate of Hays High School and currently a student at Texas A&M working on a BS in Geology.
