Lillian Chestnutt Richards, 85, of Austin passed away Monday, December 12, 2010, at her home while doing her wash and making her coffee. She left this world as she lived her life—full of energy and taking care of herself. She was born June 23, 1925 in Wichita Falls to L. F. and Grace Chestnutt who predeceased her. A life-long resident of Austin, she attended Austin High School and retired from the State Comptroller’s Office in 1991.
She met and married Dr. B. C. Richards on December 13, 1943 and they had four daughters. She left us to join Daddy on the day of their 67th wedding anniversary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. B. C. Richards, brother, James Chestnutt and son-in-law Ronnie Adair. Survivors include her four daughters, Cynthia Houston and husband Dale of Austin, Cecelia Adair and husband Roy of Manchaca, Linda Cline and husband Hank of Lakeway and Catherine Adair of Marble Falls; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
She was most happy at all family gatherings and reunions, especially the “old-timers” Christmas party held just two weeks ago in Decatur. She has many friends and relatives who mourn the loss of this warm and loving woman. She will always be remembered for her giving and compassionate heart, the light and laughter in her eyes, her thoughtful ways and the love she shared with us all.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, December 18, in the Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel followed by interment at San Marcos City Cemetery.
