Claudette Walters is officially a “new” mom. On Monday, December 20 at 9:41 a.m., Walters adopted 13-year-old Emily Nicole. Mom Walters was given flowers at the Hays County Courthouse and of course this was the very best of her Christmas presents. Congratulations to all the family.

The day after Christmas, seven-year-old Hayley Huesser fell from her bike and cut her knee. The cut required six stitches and lots of loving care. Hope all is better now.

Again this year shop owner Amy Crockett will lead area crafters in the observance of St. Distaff’s Day or Roc Day on Sat., Jan. 8 at the Yellow Sweater in downtown Buda. It serves as a transitional day between the festivities of Christmas and the return to work. To keep alive the spirit of the day there will be food, camaraderie, knitting and spinning advice along with playing good-natured pranks on each other.
Make those New Year’s resolutions and try hard to keep them.
