Odds & Ends
by MYRTLE HEIDEMAN
Fall has arrived and the Norther came through with a vengeance, with high winds, lightning and thunder in some parts of Uhland. A report of 1 ½ inches of rain was reported. More is needed, maybe next time.

The church service for members and guests of St. John Lutheran Church by Pastor Roger Hotopp was well attended, as was the called congregational meeting. The community Thanksgiving dinner that followed was enjoyed by many, including several guests and members. Jim and Cindy Alexander (members) were able to attend. Jim has been confined to their home for many months after a motorcycle/car accident. All are thankful for his improvement, though still confined to a wheelchair.

She’s a keeper! Chloe Schultz arrived November 8, 2010, weighting in at eight pounds, nine ounces. Visiting with the family Sunday afternoon were great grandparents, Danny and Sharon Heideman, great-great-grandmother, Margaret Holt, great-great grandparents, Raymond and Myrtle Heideman, and great-great-great Uncle Clarence Heideman. David and Becca Schultz, who have moved to San Marcos, are the proud parents.

Herbert and Pauline Schwertfeger visited with Raymond and Myrtle Heidman last Thursday. They seem to be settling into their new home in Temple, enjoying their families who live near by. Happy birthday Herbert on November 18.

Speaking of birthdays, I forgot my great-granddaughter, Hanna Heideman’s birthday on November 14. She turned Sweet Sixteen. Happy birthday, Hanna! She also became an aunt to Chloe.

Time to make dressing and turkey. Thanksgiving is just about on us. Thanks to kind members of St. John for delivering a turkey dinner to Raymond and myself on Sunday. Thanks Barbara for meals on wheels.
